July 22, 2008 Nan’s pregnancy continues into her 60 day check and all is still going well. We are fast approaching the 90 day check and she is now showing signs of being pregnant. Her girth had it’s first adjustment….and we have started into dressage lessons under the tutelage of Elaine Sullins. I have to tell you that I enjoy learning under her. Coming from just having spent almost 3 years of western riding; I am truly enjoying the new discipline and Nan and I continue to grow and deepen our relationship as horse and rider. Speaking of which… The AQHA America’s Horse Magazine had a great one pager from Brent Graef that I found thought provoking and have uploaded the page here for your reading enjoyment. It is titled “Follow the Leader” Steve Carlson, friend and member of the Brazos Horse Committee was spotted in a photo in Texas Co-op Power magazine…see here for the photo. Last but not least… I have had multiple requests from clients about who does what in the Brazos Valley in the way of dog referrals. I have started collecting all the information and will have a PDF online directory of who does what in the area. If you know someone who boards, pet sits, grooms, makes dog things, does dog art or simply anything doggie…refer them to the website….fill out the form and email or fax it into me and I will add them to the directory. Please keep in mind that this directory IS NOT AN ENDORSEMENT OF ANYONE LISTED IN THE DIRECTORY. This is just a service. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. June 21, 2008 Nan had her 30 day check and we are excited we only have one baby Life is all about changes. We have new cross-fencing going in so that our horses have their own grazing area. After next week, anyone visiting the ranch will no longer have to stop and wait for the gate to close. We are excited to announce that BYD has completed the "Barn House" for Reed & Kami. You can still reach Reed by e-mail at reedbranson@bydranch.com. To contact him by phone, please call him at his new number (979) 589-1303 As Ridge likes to say "WooWooWoo"! May 26, 2008 We are crossing our fingers and hoping that RFF Cannonette "Nan", my TB mare is in foal to RFF Starbuck. She was confirmed pregnant, but is carrying twins. We are taking her in for regular ultrasounds and hoping that the one egg, which is smaller will re absorb on it's own. If we are successful and end up with just one egg;we will have the makings of possibly our first sale horse and what a stunner it will be. It will start out as an Appendix Quarter Horse which will be shown into full QH papers. It is a guaranteed buckskin as "Buck" is a perlino. The Intro to Cow Work Clinic was enjoyed by all. We have the photos online if you would like to take a look. The June issue of the Horse Gazette will features an article about Reed. The June Issue of Insite Magazine will feature an article written by Miriam about traveling with your pet. Make sure to pick up a copy of both of these. We will scan and post the articles on line later on. Kathleen Logan came to Reed's Handle that Spook clinic and promptly wrote a review of it and it was published in the BACH newsletter. Intro to Cow Work Clinic Photos are now online! May 5, 2008 "Handle that Spook" Clinic Photos are now online! March 28,2008 Misty Blue Moon is featured on the front page of the Champagne Horse Breeders and Owner's Association webpage. She is the first Spanish Mustang to be registered in their registry. Misty is Miriam's NATRC competition horse. As a business owner I get tons of magazines and I usually try to find the time to read through them. I almost always find articels that interest me. Sometimes I find article that strike such a valid point that I think they are worth sharing. One such article was recently published in Stable Management Magazine. The article is called Getting Started and it is a great article about what your expectations should be when starting a young horse under a trainer and what you should realistically expect in the first couple of months of training. Another great post was recently listed on one of the Yahoo groups that I belong to. This post was called "When Things go wrong:" It is a great piece that asks the rider to look at themselves when things go wrong on your horse. So many exciting things are happening at BYD. We have an article coming out in the Horse Gazette in June, a possible article in the Lone Star Report. A possible article about Pets and Vacation in Insite Magazine, here in BCS. The article will have been written by yours truly. So stay tuned to the goings on here about the ranch. March 13,2008 BYD KENNEL was interviewed for an article in The Eagle Newspaper February, 2008 We have added a new addition to our family. Her name is Valinor's Darkest before Dawn. "Dawn for short.
